| | From Megan Romer, your About Books & Literature Editor This is an exciting week. First off, it's National Screen-Free Week here in the U.S. This is the week that we're all supposed to turn off our computers and TVs and go read a book. Um, oops. | | Screen-Free Week FAQs I kid, but I actually like the idea of screen-free week. Sure, most of us have to use technology for work and school, so the feasibility of a completely screen-free week is much lower than it used to be. Still, though, perhaps next time you go to check your facebook feed, maybe stop and go read a chapter of something or a poem instead. Better yet, do it outside. | Free Comic Book Day How convenient that Free Comic Book Day (the first Saturday in May each year) coincides with TV-free week, right? Our Guide to Comic Books has a list of titles you should look out for if you hit your comic book store this weekend. Which you should, because hey! Free comics! Who doesn't love that? | Review: 'The Cove' by Ron Rash A hotly-anticipated book for lovers of contemporary literature, The Cove is a dark, brilliant, poetic piece of historical fiction, and one that is very likely worth a read if you even vaguely enjoy the genre. | Paperback Pick: 'Cocktail Hour Under the Tree...' Now in paperback is Alexandra Fuller's second memoir of growing up in Africa, Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness. I thoroughly enjoyed the first, but haven't yet read the second, so it's going on my list.
