Try out some natural-themed projects this week. See what our Guides have for you to try out and learn some new techniques like dyeing yarn with, of all things, strawberries!
This free hand embroidery pattern features a thistle flower - the symbol of Scotland - and is worked in basic surface embroidery stitches common to crewel embroidery. Like the Autumn Acorn Pattern, this design is round in shape and was inspired by a design carved into an antique wood butter mould.
The hand-made ceramic bunny pendant used as the focal point of this necklace design helped inspire the other components used on this adjustable necklace. The strap is 16 inches long and with the use of the chain can be extended up to 19 inches long.
The pink yarn used was dyed with strawberries, while the yellow was dyed with dandelions. Of course if you don't have yarn you dyed yourself you can use any medium weight yarn you have around the house. Try knitting it in a solid color or bust your stash of odd balls and make haphazard stripes. Either way this cutie is sure to be hugged by some grateful little one.
Kids love stuffed animals and this stuffed bunny pillow is bound to end up one of their favorites. This free sewing pattern creates an adorable stuffed bunny that is also a great usable pillow. This stuffed bunny is bound to find it's way to the car for road trips and visit many homes for slumber parties. The design allows for the "bunny" to be removed from the pillow and laundered.
