2012 Grammy Nominations
The 54th annual Grammy Awards will be presented February 12, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. The nominees are voted on and winners selected by members of the Recording Academy. The Grammy Awards give out over 70 different trophies.
| Kanye West Tops Grammy Nominations
The 2012 Grammy nominations proved once again that there's no rhyme or reason to these things. Kanye West leads everyone with an impressive seven nominations, so we know he's not on the Academy's black list or anything. But the absence of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy from the Album of the Year category had me scratching my dome.
| 2012 Grammy Nominees: R&B Categories
Among the nominees in the R&B categories are R. Kelly, Marsha Ambrosius, Raphael Saadiq and Kelly Price. On a side note, this is the first Grammys since the announcement that the R&B awards were being downsized from eight to four as part of a larger elimination of a total of 31 categories.
| Grammy Nominations In World, Reggae and Roots Music
Unlike in previous years, where the world, reggae, folk, and roots music nominees encompassed dozens of total categories, most world music and ethnic American roots artists are now competing in just a few categories, following an enormous restructuring of the overall Grammy categories that was announced in April of 2011.
