From Alyson Burgess, your About Pets Editor
Many people think they have to have a great deal of extra space in their home in order to have a pet, but the truth is that there are many animal species that can thrive in small spaces. Take a look at the articles featured below for some great ideas for pets that can do well in cozy quarters. You may be surprised at the diverse choices available to those who don't exactly have the roomiest housing.

Green Anoles as Pets
These little lizards are a great choice for those new to keeping reptiles, plus one can be housed in a small 10 gallon aquarium!

Budgies as Pets
Commonly available as pets and most often simply referred to as "Parakeets", Budgies take up far less room than other parrot species, on top of making beautiful and intelligent companions.

Chihuahuas as Pets
If you're a dog lover in a small apartment or condo, having a canine companion can seem a bit out of reach -- but consider the Chihuahua. Weighing between 2 and 6 pounds, these little guys do just fine in smaller areas.

Small Saltwater Aquariums
Many people think that if you want a saltwater aquarium, you have to have a very large tank. Fortunately, that's not always the case! Take a look at this photo gallery of saltwater aquariums that range from 1 - 15 gallons. Starting a tank like this allows anyone in any space to have their own miniature piece of the sea.
