From Barbara Crews, your About Arts & Crafts Editor
Greetings,
We were fortunate not to be anywhere near Irene this past weekend, but that didn't stop me from watching every bit of coverage. And to keep the stress away -- I just kept knitting away as I watched. The more serious the storm became, the faster I would knit!

Sewing Baby Shower Gifts
We had a big announcement this week in our family. I'm going to be a grandmother again! Unfortunately (for me) this little one will be living more than 1600 miles from us, so my solution will be to keep busy creating wonderful goodies for her/him. I'm just glad my daughter-in-law appreciates hand crafted items!

The Studio Protector, The Artist's Guide to Emergencies
Given a 5 star rating -- Pottery Guide says "this is an amazing system for becoming prepared for emergencies and disasters and dealing with them when they do hit. In my opinion, this is a studio 'must-have'. Even if you aren't a professional potter, artist, or crafter, the Studio Protector lives up to its promise of guiding you through emergency situations."

Getting Practical Craft Experience
You can't make it if you don't try. Or as Guide Maire says -- practice, practice, practice. But don't stop there, take a look at the actions suggested on how to learn new craft techniques and get better at the ones you already enjoy.

Magazines for Artists
I love magazines and get way too many of them. But it's so hard to figure out what ones not to subscribe to anymore. So what do I do? Nothing, I just keep getting them, reading and enjoying them.
