Music From Chad Bowar, your About Music Editor Last week we talked about some upcoming music festivals. This week, we give you the lowdown on some of the biggest summer tours of 2012. Hopefully they will be coming through your town, or at least close enough where you can do a summer road trip to catch your favorites. System Of A Down and Deftones Tour Dates Two of alt-metal's finest bands, System of a Down and Deftones, will be hitting the road this August for a two-week tour that will mostly be hitting the East Coast of the U.S. and Canada. (The tour ends in Chicago on August 15.) These dates come at a time when both bands are reportedly working on new albums. That's bigger news for System -- after all, they haven't released a studio album since 2005. See More About:  system of a down  deftones  diamond eyes 2012 Vans Warped Tour Dates The fine folks at Vans have announced the full list of tour dates for the 2012 Vans Warped Tour. The tour kicks off on June 16 this year, in Salt Lake City, UT, and winds through the US and Canada until August 5, where it ends in Portland, OR. See More About:  warped tour 2012  Gigant3s Tour Dates The Gigant3s Tour, whose name is referred to the three Latin music giants it features, will bring together for the first time Latin Pop singer Chayanne, Salsa and Pop star Marc Anthony, and Mexican music legend Marco Antonio Solis. The tour kicks off on August 3 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami and includes 14 venues across the US. See More About:  latin music concerts  latin pop  marc anthony Take 6 Tour Dates The ten-time Grammy and ten-time Dove winners, Take 6 will be celebrating 25 years of music this year. To celebrate the silver anniversary, the group has released One, an album jam-packed with 11 ridiculously good songs. They'll also be touring this summer and fall, visiting everywhere from Illinois to Italy. This week we take a look at geometry and PHP, Kinect, adding a grab bar to the TSplitter, and the JVM language summit. Have a great week! Geometry & PHP In this first part of a two part tutorial, we explore how to calculate Pi, how to convert from degrees to radians, and how to calculate the sine, cosine and tangent. All of these are very useful functions if you need to make geometric calculations. See More About:  geometry  tangent  sine More on the Kinect I've been looking more into the Kinect and it's pretty sophisticated. An array of four microphones make it easy to locate a sound source, and the 3D infra red laser can map out a space around it. Think of it as a clever and programmable web cam. Add A Grab Bar To The TSplitter The TSplitter Delphi control does a nice job of allowing the user to resize user elements like panels on a form to make the user interface more flexible. A nice to have for a splitter would be to have a grab bar - and here's how to easily paint one on all your splitters - without having to redesign your user interface. The JVM Language Summit 2012 The date for the annual JVM Language Summit has been set for July 30th-August 1st, 2012 at Oracle's Santa Clara campus. It's a chance for VM implementers to get together and talk about "language design and implementation on the JVM, and the present and future capabilities of the JVM itself". The agenda will be updated when the speakers have been finalized.
